Dad of Chelsea star Daniel Sturridge has told AVB that he is not seing the youngsters full potential as he is playing out of his favoured position.

Micheal Sturridge told that if given the chance in his favoured central forward role that Daniel would be much more effective. Having played there from the start of his football career at grass roots the player’s father is bemused as to why he is not playing in such role.

“When he plays in his natural position, which is a central striker, you will see maybe two or three times as much of the player that you now see playing on the wings,” he told the Voice newspaper.

“When you have seen someone play from under-nines right up to adult football as a central striker, then suddenly you see them playing in a different position that you have never seen him play, obviously you know, the position he played in as a youngster is the one he will be more comfortable in.

“Once he is in that position, I expect you will see a major improvement.

“In terms of potential, we have to see him play in that central striker position to see how far he can go in the game.

“He can actually show you a lot more. I think with the experience he gains and playing regularly in the Premier League, you are going to see a better player because he will just get stronger.”

At a team as big as the Blues players are expected to play wherever asked to. Although the motives of Daniel’s father are of both the club and player’s best interest it is up to the manager to pick the team. Sturridge has had a great season so far at the Bridge and I hope this doesn’t affect the English internation. The Blues travel to Goodison park at the weekend in a game which is seen as aa must win in order to stay in the race for a Champions League spot.
