Genk today confirmed that talks between them and the Blues have held place in regards to the possible transfer of Kevin De Bruyne.

We tried to sign the highly-rated winger last summer, but a failure to reach an agreement resulted in talks breaking down.

However, the club has re-lighted their interest and hope they can tie up an eight million pound move for the player.

It is understood the club would be willing to let De Bruyne go back to Genk on loan for the rest of the season as part of the deal.

Genk confirmed Dirk Degraen, the clubs director of sport, flew to London to hold talks with the Stamford Bridge club,

“Dirk Degraen is in London and the expectation is that it (the transfer of De Bruyne) will be finished this week,” a Genk spokesman said.

“The assumption is that Kevin de Bruyne will be transferred to Chelsea and then will finish the season (on loan) at Genk.”

The club clearly feel the Belgian route is one to be explored. Should the deal be finalised, De Bruyne would be the third capture from the Belgium league in only six months. The winger would join former team-mate Thibaut Courtois and Romelu Lukaku after the pair agreed deals at The Bridge in the summer.

Meanwhile, Soa Poalo star Lucas’ agent has denied the player is set to join Inter Milan.

“There is nothing definite with Inter to sign Lucas for next season,” Pedroso told FcInterNews.it.

“The information is incorrect. Luke cannot talk or negotiate with Inter, without authorization from Sao Paulo.

“Lucas does not have the desire to leave Sao Paulo, so we’ve not started any talks with a club abroad. I can assure you the boy will remain with Sao Paulo until the summer.”

The Chelsea target has a release clause of, “80 million”, and his agent confirmed he had heard words about Chelsea’s interest:

“Sao Paulo have not expressed an interest in selling Lucas, but I can say that we’ve heard from people connected with the club over an offer from Chelsea for €35million.”
