Without doubt, Frank Lampard is one of the greatest players to ever pull on the famous blue shirt of Chelsea. League title winning-goals, FA Cup and Champions League Final goals, nerveless penalty taking, a barrelful of assists and record-breaking sequences of appearances all associates with the name of Frank Lampard.

After a slow start to his Chelsea career after his 11 million pound move from West Ham United, Lampard transformed into one of Europe’s finest. The 2003/04 season was the first of new owner Roman Abramovich and Lampard had burst into top form, only to be beaten by Thierry Henry in English football’s individual awards. Scoring 19 goals from midfield Lampard was also the man to clinch the Premier League title with two last day of the season goals against Bolton. Voted the Sportswriters’ Footballer of the Year that year and runner-up in the European and World Player of the Year voting for 2005 his impressive form continued as The Blues won the League title yet again.

In December 2005 Frank was ruled out a match through a virus, ending his 164 consecutive game. That was a Premier League record but has now been surpassed by goalkeeper Brad Friedal. The 2006/07 saw Frank make a club record of 62 appearances in a single campaign. Despite rare injuries and the tragic death of his mother Frank passed the 20 goal mark in the 2008 season. This included a penalty in the Champions League semi-final versus Liverpool and a dramatic final equaliser against Manchester United. The club awarded his form with a new five-year-contract which Frank was delighted to sign in the summer of 2008.

Since then Lampard has become Chelsea’s top scoring midfield player ever; and is the player to win the most international caps while a Chelsea player. His 27 goals from centre-midfield helped Chelsea to the double in the 09/10 season. He seems to be getting better as he gets older and continues to be a major asset to the club.
