Ramires Santos do Nascimento joined Chelsea in the summer of 2010 on a four-year-contract after only one season with Benfica in the Portuguese league. The Brazilian made his debut in the dying minutes of The Blues 2-0 victory over Stoke City in late August. In his first campaign as a Chelsea player he earned himself 22 starts for the club.

During our winless two months (November 11 and December 11) he was a commited force in the midfield and won us a penalty in the late stages of the Tottenham Hotspur game which was unfortunately missed. His first goal came in the 4-0 destruction of Bolton in late January. His team-mates reactions to his goal showed how important his presence is and how popular he is in the dressing room after he was mobbed by his fellow players.

His next, and by far, best Chelsea goal came in late March. After prancing beyond two defenders he rattled the ball into the top-corner of the net. It was a strike worthy of Chelsea’s Goal of The Season.

Ramires returned from the Copa America in sparkling form. Two goals at the start of the season against Swansea suggest it will be a good season for the player. He is a regular in AVB’s side on the right of a midfield trio. He is a Brazilian international and featured in four out of five matches at the world cup – missing the Holland game through suspension. With his contract running to 2014 us Blues are hoping to see Ramires continue to put in classy performances and help Chelsea to domestic and European silverware.
